In his travels across Europe, after studying the fundamentals of Asian cuisine, Chef Jun was exposed to the idea of European-Japanese fusion cuisine. This style prioritized how the flavors of its various sauces paired with the other components of the dish.

Eager to showcase the remarkable Euro-Japanese fusion style, our Chef created Muni Robata, an authentic Japanese restaurant in downtown Toronto.

 

Muni means “peerless”, and Robata is the Japanese method of barbecuing over hot charcoal.

 

We specialize at pairing our hand-fermented sauces with Japanese-style open-flame grilled meat and seafood to showcase flavors not yet available in the fusion market.

 

A novel take on the timeless Japanese technique melded with Euro-centric flavors is the essence of what Muni Robata is.
